Ally Dalsimer | Environmental Policy Expert Challenges Entrenched Corporate Dem in VA-11

Ally Dalsimer is a Democrat running for Congress in Virginia's 11th district, which covers the DC suburbs in Fairfax and Prince William counties. She is running a fully grassroots campaign.

Ally has thirty years of experience in environmental policy and protection. She managed the Natural Resources Program at the Department of Defense under the Trump administration, but her position was eliminated as a result of Trump's budget cuts on environmental programs. Consequently, Ally's life's work in conservation was undone.

Ally supports robust environmental action that includes:

Miami Mayor Daniella Levine Cava on South Florida's Environmental Urgency

Daniella Levine Cava is the first female Mayor of Miami-Dade County. As Mayor, she oversees a metropolitan government with more than 28,000 employees serving nearly 3 million residents, managing an annual budget of approximately $9 billion.

Mayor Levine Cava came to elected office after having served as an advocate for South Florida families for over 30 years. She served special needs children and immigrants at Legal Services of Greater Miami, and then represented children in the child welfare system as Associate and Legal Director for the Guardian Ad Litem Program. She's founded Catalyst Miami in 1996, an organization that helps low- and middle-income families through service, education, and advocacy.

She began her political service in 2014, when she was elected to sere as the Miami-Dade County Commissioner for District 8. As Commissioner, she invested in Miami-Dade small businesses and expanded economic opportunity, protected the environment and our water, increased the County police force for underserved areas, advocated for an expanded, reliable public transportation system, worked to create affordable housing and revitalize neighborhoods, and helped make local government more accountable and transparent.

Dr. Michael E. Mann | The New Climate War

Dr. Michael E. Mann is a scientist, author, and Distinguished Professor of Atmospheric Science at Penn State. He is also director of the Penn State Earth System Science Center.

Dr. Mann's research involves the use of theoretical models and observational data to better understand Earth's climate system. He is author of more than 200 peer-reviewed and edited publications and has also published four books.

Isiah James | Brooklyn's Working-Class Representative

Isiah James is a Democrat running for Congress in New York's 9th Congressional District, which is located entirely within Brooklyn.

Isiah is a decorated veteran of the Iraq War. In 2009, he was nearly killed by a grenade, and as a result of the blast, he suffers from permanent hearing loss, chronic migraines, and PTSD. Isiah later attended Brooklyn College, where he began organizing for tenants rights, access to affordable housing, and mentored returning veterans struggling with the transition to civilian life.

Isiah has a bold vision for NY-9. In his own words:

Vaush | The Problems with the Online Left

Vaush is a rising star of independent left-wing media.

Many regard his YouTube channel as a response to the overwhelming presence of reactionary content that helped fuel the popularity of the alt-right in the mid-2010s.

Vaush is perhaps best known for his debates against some of the most influential figures of the alt-right, including Sargon of Akkad, Stefan Molyneux, and Jean-François Gariépy among others. He has also debated self-described fascists and neo-Nazis. As a result, he's often credited with de-radicalizing young people away from the far right.

Erica Smith | Public Educator Challenges Climate Change Denier in U.S. Senate Race

Erica Smith is a member of the North Carolina State Senate who has represented District 3 (which covers the Outer Banks) since 2015. She was a candidate for U.S. Senate in the 2020 Democratic Primary, and she recently announced that she'll be running again in 2022.

The 2020 Senate race was narrowly won by incumbent Thom Tillis, a Republican who has denied the existence of climate change and who once introduced a constitutional amendment in the State House of Representatives that would have banned same-sex marriage.

On the other hand, Smith, a math and science teacher at a public high school, supports a "Six-Point Lesson Plan" that calls for:

1.) Economic expansion

2.) Environmental stewardship

3.) Education equity

4.) Equitable health care

5.) Equal justice access, opportunity & protection justice reform

6.) Re-engineering policies for progress, compensation, tax codes, immigration

Unlike her previous opponent in the Democratic Primary, Erica has pledged not to accept any campaign contributions from the fossil fuel industry or large corporate PACs.

Prior to becoming involved in local politics, Erica worked as a Senior Engineer for Boeing. She is also an ordained member of the clergy and used to serve as an Associate Pastor.

Chris Smalls | Why Amazon MUST Unionize

Chris Smalls worked as a supervisor at an Amazon warehouse in Staten Island, where he oversaw a team of 60-100 "pickers."

Early last March, Smalls noticed that people at his warehouse were getting sick. He approached HR and told them that they must quarantine the facility and take proactive measures against the burgeoning pandemic. Amazon refused.

Jeff Bezos is the second richest man in the world. Despite having a net worth of over $180,000,000,000, he has cut hazard pay for his warehouse workers, decreased health care benefits, and retaliates against vocal and concerned employees.

By the end of last March, Smalls was invited to a managers' meeting where he was informed of the facility's first confirmed case of COVID-19. The managers advised Smalls not to tell anybody, but as soon as the meeting ended, Smalls told as many people as he could about the situation:

"I had meetings in the common areas and dozens of workers joined us to talk about their concerns. People were afraid. We went to the general manager’s office to demand that the building be closed down so it could be sanitized. We also said we wanted to be paid during the duration of that time. Another demand of ours was that people who can’t go to work because of underlying health conditions be paid. Why do they have to risk catching the virus to put food on the table? This company makes trillions of dollars. Still, our demands and concerns are falling on deaf ears. It’s crazy. They don’t care if we fall sick. Amazon thinks we are expendable." Amazon continued to ignore the safety of the warehouse associates, so in response, they staged a walkout that was led by Smalls.

Amazon fired him shortly thereafter. Today, Chris Smalls leads a nationwide protest movement called The Congress of Essential Workers that fights for better working conditions and better wages.

Lee Carter | Socialist Marine Fights for Healthcare in VA Governor Race

Lee Carter has represented the 50th district in the Virginia House of Delegates since 2018. Earlier this month, he announced his candidacy in Virginia's Democratic Party primary election for governor.

Lee was a member of the United States Marine Corps from 2006 to 2011. During this time, he completed tours in the Middle East and the Mediterranean. His unit was also one of the first to respond to the 2010 earthquake in Haiti.

Since becoming a member of the Virginia House of Delegates, he has passed bills to expand wage protections for airport workers, lower the monthly cost of prescription insulin, and to allow Virginians to cooperatively own their own workplaces.

He has also campaigned with Bernie Sanders and served as Virginia co-chair for his 2020 presidential campaign.
